It all started with a feeling that’s hard to explain: that of being far away… even when you are somewhere. Far from a language, an atmosphere, a way of life. Far from what shaped us. Of Syrian origin, this connection has always been a part of me. I often looked for simple things—an image, a poster, a detail—to rediscover a bit of that connection, a place, a moment, a feeling. There’s also what war takes away, transforms, or distances. Places, landmarks, moments that become memories.

So I started creating what I couldn’t find. Giving form to this void, to these memories. FunounArts was born from that—as a way to keep this connection alive, despite the distance.

Deeply influenced by the historical, cultural, or patrimonial richness and the influences of the Arab and Mediterranean world, I observe the forms, details, and colors of life, and all of this feeds my work. Each creation is conceived as a bridge: between here and there, between the present and memories.
